Help and guide
How booking here works, and what everything on the page means.
Before you start
- Every restaurant on here sets its own hours, its own seats and its own rules. If something in this guide is not on the page in front of you, that restaurant has not switched it on.
- You do not need an account, and there is nothing to install. A booking is held by its reference, and the link in your confirmation email is the only key you need.
- Use the same email address and phone number you can actually be reached on. The confirmation goes to the email; the restaurant may use the phone to reach you if something changes.
How to book in three steps
Date and party, then a sitting, then your details.
- ADate and party. The strip shows the next fortnight; page forward for later dates, or use the date box to jump. A dot under a date means that day is fully booked — you can still join the waitlist for it. Count everybody, including children, because the restaurant is holding seats rather than chairs.
- BSitting. A sitting is a service with a fixed start time, like Lunch 12:00 or Dinner 18:30. One marked Full has no seats left at that time; try another sitting or another day.
- CYour details. Name, email and phone are required. Tell them about allergies and dietary needs here rather than on the night, and say if it is a birthday or an anniversary — it reaches the host before you do.
If the restaurant sells items ahead — a cake, a set menu, a bottle — a pre-order step appears before your details, with prices. Skip it if you would rather order on the night. If your party is larger than the page allows, use the message link to ask the restaurant directly — big parties are usually possible, just not automatic.
If you already have a booking at the same restaurant that day, the page says so and asks you to tick a box before it makes a second one. That stops a double tap or a forgotten booking turning into two bookings.
Once you are booked, the confirmation page has buttons to add it to your calendar, get directions and share the details with the people coming.
The card on the right of the page (below the steps on a phone) fills in as you go. Anything still reading Next is what is left to do.
You do not choose a table. The restaurant seats you when you arrive, fitting your party to whatever the room has. If you would like a specific spot, mention it to the host on the night; it is theirs to arrange, not something this page can promise ahead of time.
Want a whole room to yourselves? Some restaurants also have Private Rooms.
Private Rooms
A Private Room is a room you book as a whole, for a birthday, a family dinner or a business meal. Only restaurants that have one switched on show it: look for the Dining room / Private Room switch at the top of the booking card, and the room cards under the restaurant's photo. A restaurant without one shows neither.
Each room tells you what to expect before you book: how many guests it takes (fewest to most), a minimum spend if there is one, a deposit if there is one, and its rules. The minimum spend is settled on the night, as part of your bill. The deposit is one flat amount for the whole room, not per guest, and it comes off your bill too. On the details step you tick a box to say you have read the room's rules.
A Private Room does not use the dining room's seats, so a full dining room does not stop you booking a free room, and booking a room does not take seats from anyone else.
Book now, or ask first
Each room says which one it is.
- Book now. You pick a time, fill in your details and confirm, and the room is yours at once. If it has a deposit, you land on the payment page exactly as in Deposits below, and the room is held while you transfer.
- Ask first. You pick a time and send a request. The restaurant reads it and replies by email.
What a request means
Nothing is held until the restaurant accepts. A request is a question, not a booking. Until it is answered the room could still go to someone else, and the restaurant may have more than one request for the same night.
- If the restaurant accepts, it becomes an ordinary booking and you get the usual confirmation. If the room has a deposit, that message tells you how to pay it.
- If it declines, you are emailed, and you are free to ask for another day or another room.
- If your plans change first, you can withdraw the request yourself. Nothing was held, so there is nothing to cancel.
Checking on a request
Straight after you send it, the page you land on shows it, in the same browser. It also emails you a link, See your request, which works on any phone or computer and always shows the latest answer. Keep that email: it is the only way back to the request from another device. If it does not arrive in a few minutes, look in your spam folder.
A Private Room booking is cancelled with the link in its confirmation email, like any booking. To move it to another date, ask the restaurant: Change date or time is for dining bookings only.
Deposits
Some restaurants ask for a deposit, usually only from a certain party size upwards. If yours does, you land on a payment page after confirming, and:
- You pay by DuitNow QR bank transfer. Scan the code with your banking app. Booking on the same phone you pay with? Tap Save QR image, then open your banking app and pick the saved QR from your gallery. There is no card form anywhere in this app and no card details are ever stored.
- Put the booking reference in the transfer note. It is how the restaurant matches your money to your booking. Without it they are looking at an anonymous payment. The copy button beside it saves you typing it.
- If you also pre-ordered, it is one transfer for the whole amount, deposit and pre-order together. Never send two.
- Tap I've transferred when it is done. That tells the restaurant to go and look; a person then checks the account and confirms it.
- Your seats are held the whole time — from the moment you confirm, through the transfer, until a human confirms it. The page shows the deadline. If nothing arrives by then the booking releases itself and the seats go to whoever is waiting.
- The deposit is not a fee. It comes off your bill on the night. A pre-order is different: it is paid for, so it is ready when you arrive rather than taken off the bill.
Finding, changing and cancelling
Finding it again
Your reference looks like ABC-1234 and is in your confirmation email. Use the Already booked? link on the restaurant's page and enter it to pull the booking back up. Anyone holding that reference can see the booking, so treat it the way you would a ticket.
Changing the date or time
Open the cancel link in your confirmation email. That page also offers Change date or time, which walks you back through the booking with your details already filled in. The old booking is released and the new one taken in one move, so you never end up with neither.
Cancelling
Same link, and please use it if plans change. Empty seats nobody was told about are the one thing a restaurant cannot recover from, and cancelling puts your seats straight back to whoever is waiting for them.
Lost the email? Search your inbox for the restaurant's name, and check the spam folder. If it is really gone, phone the restaurant — they can cancel it from their side in seconds.
When the day is full
Two different things, for two different situations:
- The waitlist is for a future sitting that is sold out. You leave your name, and if seats that fit your party free up, you are messaged automatically — oldest first. It is not a booking and holds no seats: you get told, and then you book. There is a link in your waitlist message to take yourself off it.
- The queue is for walking in today. Scan the QR at the door and your own phone becomes the buzzer: it shows how many parties are ahead of you and updates itself while you wait. Tap I'm not waiting if you change your mind, so the restaurant can move on.
After your visit
A restaurant may email you to ask how your visit went — a rating out of five and, if you want, a comment. Two things worth knowing: the restaurant may choose to show your comment publicly on their page, and if they do, only your first name appears with it. Never your surname, phone number or email. You can send the form again to change what you said.
Glossary
- Sitting
- A service with a fixed start time — Lunch 12:00, Dinner 18:30. You book a sitting, not an arbitrary time, which is how the restaurant knows the whole room starts together.
- Cover
- One guest. A party of four is four covers. Restaurants count seats, not bookings.
- Reference
- The ABC-1234 code identifying your booking. It goes in your transfer note and finds your booking again.
- Deposit
- Money transferred ahead to hold your booking, taken off your bill on the night. Paid by DuitNow QR, checked by a person.
- Pre-order
- Something bought when you book rather than on the night — a cake, a set menu, a bottle. Paid in the same transfer as the deposit.
- Private Room
- A room booked as a whole, with its own guest range and sometimes a minimum spend and a deposit. It never uses the dining room's seats. More on Private Rooms.
- Request
- What you send for an ask-first Private Room. It holds nothing until the restaurant accepts it.
- Waitlist
- The list for a sold-out future sitting. Holds no seats; messages you if some free up.
- Queue
- The walk-in line for today, joined by QR at the door. Your phone shows your position.
- No-show
- A booking whose guests never arrived and never cancelled. Restaurants remember these, so cancel rather than let one happen.
Still stuck?
Every restaurant's booking page carries its own phone number and, where they use it, a WhatsApp link. For anything about your specific booking — a change they need to approve, a payment that did not land, a party too big for the form — contact the restaurant directly. They can do things from their side that this page cannot.
